Energy Management and Smart Lighting for Distributed Convenience Stores
Project Overview
Lawson operates a large network of convenience stores across different regions. With a large number of distributed stores, centralized collection and management of energy data is important for understanding energy consumption and identifying opportunities for energy saving.
Acrel provided an energy management platform for Lawson convenience stores, covering energy data collection, energy management and energy-saving performance tracking.
The project included two main applications: energy consumption monitoring and smart lighting management.

Project Objectives
The project focused on improving the way energy consumption was monitored and managed across Lawson stores.
The main objectives were to:
- Collect energy data from stores
- Support centralized energy management
- Identify high-energy-consuming stores
- Screen stores with abnormal energy consumption
- Analyze the causes of high energy consumption
- Evaluate the value of potential energy-saving opportunities
- Improve the energy efficiency of store signage through intelligent control
- Review energy-saving performance and adjust control strategies accordingly
Acrel Solution
1. Energy Management Platform
The energy management platform supports energy data collection, energy management and energy-saving performance tracking for Lawson convenience stores.
The platform provides a centralized environment for managing store energy information and reviewing energy-saving performance.
Through the platform, energy-related data can be collected and analyzed to support subsequent energy management and energy-saving activities.
2. Energy Consumption Monitoring
The first stage of the project focused on identifying stores with high or abnormal energy consumption.
The monitoring module supports:
- High-Energy Store Identification
Screening stores with relatively high energy consumption provides a starting point for further investigation. - Abnormal Energy Consumption Screening
The platform helps identify stores with abnormal energy consumption for further analysis. - High-Energy Consumption Analysis
After identifying high-energy-consuming stores, the project analyzes the possible reasons for their higher energy consumption. - Energy-Saving Opportunity Evaluation
The potential value of energy-saving opportunities at individual stores can then be calculated, providing a basis for evaluating and prioritizing energy-saving measures. - Energy Management Process
Energy Data Collection → High-Energy Store Screening → Abnormal Energy Consumption Screening → Cause Analysis → Energy-Saving Opportunity Evaluation
This process changes energy management from simply collecting consumption data to using the data to identify where further action may be required.
3. Smart Lighting Management
The project also included a smart lighting module for store signage.
The objective was to improve the energy efficiency of signage lighting through platform-based control.
- Seasonal and Time-Based Automatic Control
The platform supports automatic control of signage according to different seasons and time periods.
This allows the lighting schedule to be managed centrally rather than relying entirely on manual adjustment. - Remote Strategy Optimization
Energy-saving performance can be reviewed through the platform.
Based on the results, an optimized control strategy can be remotely issued from the platform. - Smart Lighting Management Process
Signage Energy-Saving Retrofit → Seasonal & Time-Based Control → Energy-Saving Performance Review → Optimized Strategy → Remote Strategy Deployment
4. Centralized Energy Management
The Lawson project brings the two applications together through the energy management platform.
- Energy Consumption Monitoring
Store Energy Data
→ High-Energy Store Screening
→ Abnormal Consumption Screening
→ Cause Analysis
→ Energy-Saving Opportunity Evaluation - Smart Lighting
Signage Lighting
→ Seasonal & Time-Based Control
→ Energy-Saving Performance Review
→ Remote Strategy Adjustment
Both applications are managed through the centralized energy management platform.

Project Value
Based on the project scope, the main value of the solution is in establishing a more structured approach to store energy management:
- Centralized Energy Data
Energy information from stores can be collected and managed through the platform. - High-Energy Store Identification
Energy monitoring provides a basis for identifying stores requiring further attention. - Data-Based Energy-Saving Assessment
Energy consumption data can be used to analyze high consumption and evaluate potential energy-saving opportunities. - Intelligent Signage Control
Store signage can be controlled according to seasonal and time-based strategies, with strategies adjusted remotely based on energy-saving performance.

Project Summary
The Lawson project established an energy management approach based on online energy data collection, energy consumption analysis and intelligent signage control.
Instead of focusing only on energy consumption data itself, the platform supports the process from store screening and cause analysis to energy-saving opportunity evaluation, while the smart lighting module provides seasonal and time-based control for store signage.
The project provides a practical reference for energy management across distributed store networks.
