Overview

The AIM-D100-TS series DC insulation monitor is specifically engineered for unearthed DC systems (IT systems) in energy storage applications. It continuously monitors the insulation resistance of both positive and negative poles to earth, ensuring operational safety. When insulation resistance falls below preset thresholds, the device issues pre-alarm or alarm signals via RGB LED indicators and relay outputs. Designed for DC 15-1500V systems, it is ideal for battery energy storage systems, substation DC panels, EV charging stations, UPS systems, and photovoltaic DC networks. The monitor features dual trigger modes (communication or periodic), two relay outputs, and flexible rail or wall mounting with plug-in terminals.

Function

Insulation MonitoringContinuously measures insulation resistance of positive and negative poles to earth. Range: 1kΩ~10MΩ. Pre-alarm and alarm thresholds can be set independently
Voltage MonitoringReal-time measurement of system voltage (pole-to-pole) and pole-to-earth voltages. Range: DC 15~1500V (model dependent).
Dual Alarm IndicationTwo RGB LEDs indicate status: green (running), yellow (pre-alarm flashing), red (alarm flashing). Yellow flashing also indicates reverse polarity connection.
Relay OutputsTwo relay outputs (NO/NC selectable) for remote signalling: DO2 for pre-alarm, DO1 and DO2 for alarm.
DIP Switch Configuration8-position DIP switch allows easy setting of baud rate and communication address (1-63) without software
Dual Trigger ModesCommunication trigger (default): reading any measurement register initiates one insulation measurement. Periodic trigger: automatic measurement with adjustable delay (5-500s).
Flexible MountingPlastic enclosure supports both 35mm DIN rail mounting and wall mounting with pull-out mounting clips.
Plug–in TerminalsPlug-in terminal blocks simplify wiring and maintenance.
Low Power ConsumptionMaximum power ≤3W, suitable for energy-sensitive applications.

FAQ

What voltage ranges does the AIM-D100-TS series cover?

The series includes two models: AIM-D100-TSL for DC 15~150V systems and AIM-D100-TS for DC 150~1500V systems. Choose the model according to your energy storage system voltage.

What are the two trigger modes and how do they work?

Communication trigger (default): reading any measurement register initiates one insulation measurement, ideal for on-demand checking. Periodic trigger: automatic measurement with adjustable delay (5-500s), suitable for continuous monitoring.

How many relay outputs does the device have?

It has two independent relay outputs. DO2 activates for pre-alarm, while both DO1 and DO2 activate for alarm. Relay mode (NO/NC) is configurable via register 44H.

Can I use both trigger modes simultaneously?

No, the trigger mode is selectable via register 40H (0x01 for periodic, 0x10 for communication trigger). They cannot be used simultaneously.

How do I configure the communication parameters?

An 8-position DIP switch on the device sets the baud rate (using BAUD1 and BAUD2) and the Modbus address (using ADD1-ADD6, binary coded). No software configuration is needed.

What is the purpose of the periodic trigger start/stop register (3DH/3EH)?

When in periodic trigger mode, register 3EH can be used to enable/disable the periodic trigger, and register 3DH reflects the current on/off status. This allows remote control of the monitoring cycle.

Summary

The AIM-D100-TS series DC insulation monitor is a specialized solution for energy storage systems, offering wide voltage coverage up to 1500V, high-precision insulation measurement, and dual trigger modes for flexible operation. With two relay outputs, RGB status indication, and DIP switch configuration, it provides reliable protection while being easy to integrate into battery storage, substation, and renewable energy applications. Its compact design, low power consumption, and dual mounting options make it an ideal choice for modern DC power systems requiring continuous insulation monitoring.
